May 3rd 2011 – Palm Springs
We are 2 weeks into our time in California. We had a lovely week with Jo, Todd and the children in San Jose before driving down to Palm Springs.
The weather in San Jose was probably colder than we would have enjoyed in the UK but we had a great time with Family P. We attended two T Ball sessions to watch Alexander and Oliver play what is junior baseball. Alexander can certainly hit the ball well and won the match ball in one game. We celebrated Todd’s birthday and Easter egg hunts and went to the cinema to see Rio. In other words we had a very full week.
The drive to Palm Springs was very pleasant and we covered the 460 miles in just over 7 hours having stopped three times for coffee etc. Since we arrived in Palm Springs we have enjoyed some great weather with temperatures typically in the 90s. Not surprisingly we have spent a lot of time by the pool although we have been to Idyllwild up in the mountains for lunch at one of our favourite restaurants.
We got up in the middle of the night to watch the Royal Wedding and were not disappointed. We both thought it was fantastic. TV coverage in California was probably greater than in the UK with many re runs and other programmes all over the weekend!
The forecast says that we should hit 100F for the next couple of days!!!!
