15 – 19 June – Exmoor
On Sunday we left Fairford after Church to go camping on Exmoor. We found a lovely camp site, high on the moor where we pitched our new, and spacious tent. We settled in quickly and over the next 3 and a half days enjoyed some lovely walks across the moor, along the Doone Valley and around Arlington Court. Arlington Court is a National Trust House with extensive grounds which we explored and then instead of following a direct path back to the house went off up another valley and had some fantastic views before we crossed the top of a hill and back down to the house. The weather throughout our walks ranged from very sunny through very windy to very windy and wet! but we had a great time. Annie also found a steam railway on which we had a short ride. This pleased Gerry greatly(Annie also enjoyed it).
We spent our last night wondering whether the tent would survive the strong gusty winds and heavy rain but it did and we returned safely to Fairford today
